Well as a child he had a lot of adventure which gave him his distinct writing style later on, along with the people he met, the things he saw,, for instance the book ¨Life On The Mississippi¨  it shows how much he thought of the river as a young boy and how he felt about the changes that took place in a twenty year hiatus. its really all about his big imagination to be honest.
